Photo requirements:

The machine-readable zone (MRZ), which consists of 2 or 3 lines of letters, symbols, and numbers at the bottom of the personal details page of your passport

Clear and in focus
Free from glare or reflections
Unaltered (no effects or filters)
Original (not a screenshot or photocopy)
In colour
Horizontal (landscape orientation)
Good quality - at least 600px × 750px

File format (optional): we recommend using a JPG or JPEG file format.

It is your responsibility to provide a proper photo of your passport, so please make sure it follows the above requirements exactly.

Biometrics consent: I explicitly consent to the collection and secure processing of my biometric data (passport photograph and selfie image) for the sole purpose of submitting my application to UKVI. Your data will be permanently deleted from our system within 10 days.

Make sure you have:

A plain, light background (e.g., a white wall)
No objects (e.g., a plant) or people behind you
Your head, shoulders, and upper body clearly visible, not too close or too far from the camera
Even lighting, with no shadows or glare on your face or in the background

You must not:

Cover your face or eyes, or wear a head covering (unless for religious or medical reasons). No fashion hair accessories, please
Wear excessive makeup. Wear glasses; your eyes must be fully visible and open

The photo must be:

Different from the photo in your passport
Recently taken (take it now)
Vertical (portrait orientation)
In colour
At least 600px × 750px

You must not:

Use any effects, filters, or photo editing software
